As many who read this blog may know, I am an avid Linux user. As a Linux user, I have more control over my operating system and what is installed, but one thing everyone knows about Linux is that it is not the greatest for gaming. https://pacificsoft.mystrikingly.com/blog/limewire-sites. It has gotten better with the help of Valve's Proton and the support of some Cloud Gaming services.

However, one negative to Cloud Gaming on Linux is that not every service supports Linux. Adobe photoshop cc program. Currently, only Google Stadia and Shadow offer direct Linux support. Google Stadia via the Chrome browser, and Shadow via .appimages. Until recently, NVIDIA GeForce Now was only available on Windows, Mac, and Android.

If you follow this blog, you may know that NVIDIA recently released Chromebook support for GeForce Now, via the Chrome Browser. This Beta allows you to play GeForce Now on Linux, or pretty much any operating system, that can download and use a Chromium browser. Here is how..

GeForce NOW is a cloud streaming service that turns your SHIELD TV or Tablet into a GeForce-powered PC gaming rig, so you can game from the same couch where you stream your favorite shows and movies.

What you need

  • This device or web browser is not currently supported by GeForce NOW. Check out available devices and download the latest GeForce NOW apps by clicking the link below.
  • Download GeForce Now for your Windows, Mac, SHIELD TV, or Android device and start playing instantly.

First and foremost, make sure your computer is fast enough to handle GeForce Now. Although it can run on most computers, some may be too old, or not have a fast enough processor to handle the stream.

You will need to make sure you have:

  • Chromium-based browser. Preferably Chrome, but any should work.
  • User-Agent Switcher extension that allows you to set a custom User-Agent. I use this one.
  • NVIDIA GeForce Now account

How to get GeForce Now to work

  1. Open up your Chrome browser and download the necessary User-Agent Switcher extension.
  2. Head over to User-Agents.net, and copy one of the Chrome OS user-agents.
  3. Input the copied user-agent into the extension.
  4. Once the Chrome OS user-agent has been set, you can now navigate to https://play.geforcenow.com, and you should be at the main screen.
    • If you are redirected to the 'Unsupported Device' page, try a different user-agent or extension if multiple user-agents do not work.

Why this works

It appears that since play.geforcenow.com is browser-based, the application looks for the user-agent that is trying to access the site. If you meet all the requirements (Chrome, Chrome OS, Supported Hardware), you will access GeForce Now. If you do not meet the criteria, you will be faced with the Unsupported Device page.
