Update: The new Sims 4 expansion pack will be Snowy Escape. Read more about the teaser and watch the trailer premiere here.

The Sims 4 have revealed that the next expansion pack for the game will be revealed on 20 October on the game's official YouTube channel at 8:00 Pacific Time… that's 17:00 South African time or 15:00 GMT.

The ‘announcement' of the announcement (yeah, how meta) was made on the game's welcome screen on Monday.

Over on the forums, Simmers have been theorising and speculating that there could be a French-style game pack coming. The Sims Free Play already has French-style gameplay, so there might be some ideas lurking in there. One of the features of that is the ability to 'unlock a gallery'. More on how that joins the dots in a bit. The Sims 5 is surely on its way, but there are many new expansions that we could see in The Sims 4 before a new game is released. The expansion will be the tenth for the popular simulation franchise and the second for 2020. The Sims 4 Eco Lifestyle was the latest expansion pack released in June.

  • Currently there are eight game packs available, each featuring a range of stuff for your Sims to do, from visiting vacation destinations to solving a mystery about your local neighbourhood. Game packs have a retail price of £17.99 / $19.99 / 19.99€, but see frequent discounts in the Origin Store.

The announcement will be made on the very same day that the latest Origin sale – which is offering over 50% off some Sims 4 titles – comes to an end.

What's the new Sims 4 expansion going to be about?

It's a snowy themed pack – we know that for sure now.

As with all announcements about new Sims 4 content, there's always a bit of speculation going on. Previously, we've had a look at some old community surveys to see if there might be some hint about what to expect.

We've also been quite curious about the new building shells that were added to the game in a patch – wondering whether there might be a ‘create your own town' kind of expansion pack.

What we do know for sure, though, is that the pack will not be about free babies, cars or bunk beds. Oh well, we'll just keep building those completely useless garages for in The Sims 4, then.

Until then, we'll keep our eyes wide open for any clues or hints that might give us an early inkling about what the next expansion pack might be. Dag, dag!

What a day The Sims 4 speculation, right? We've already talked about the possibility of burglars finally returning to the game as NPCs, but what about an update for babies in The Sims 4?

For many, this won't actually be news. We're not sure how we missed this one, but at least our favourite Sims 4 YouTuber, Plumbella, is staying alert.

The Sims 4 team have been big on promoting the whole work from home movement, but a render posted to their Instagram story recently got the speculation and rumour mill turning again.

The picture was a render of a baby that looks very much… not like the babies we currently have in The Sims 4. Over on Twitter, The Sims community was aflutter with rumours and thoughts. Some pointed out that The Sims 4 team have used this render before. It's straight-up misleading, but it's marketing, right?

Another Simmer also said that this pose has been used many times before.

It's an old render, at least dating back to 2019 (see this thread: https://t.co/299rBJ9yir) also they always use that baby model for renders (eg see the Pride render). pic.twitter.com/CiegDEYhsH

Be that as it may, if the animation or render exist, does that mean it's been something that's a work in progress and about to be released?

There was also a reference to updating babies in one of the most recent Sims 4 surveys. It's a highly requested feature for Simmers who prefer playing long lifespans.

Minecraft ipad cost. We don't want to get our hopes up, but after the disaster of the 20th anniversary, we feel like the The Sims team owes us a little something.

Queen of the Plumbob Snark, Plumbella, certainly thinks that The Sims 4 base game is about to get a baby update.
